French artist Nicolas Poussin painted this lively scene of putti (cherub-like children) engaged in a Bacchanalian revelry. The composition shows playful figures amid garlands and classical elements in Poussin's ordered Baroque style.
Poussin was the leading French classical painter of the 17th century. This work is at the National Gallery of Ancient Art in Rome.
