Salvator Rosa depicted the biblical scene of Pharaoh's daughter discovering the infant Moses in a basket among the reeds. The Baroque master set the scene in a wild, rocky landscape typical of his dramatic style. Figures cluster around the child as servants attend the princess.
Rosa was famous for his bandits, battles, and savage landscapes, but also painted religious and mythological subjects. His dark romanticism anticipated later movements. This painting hangs at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.
Luxury wall art with the same mood and energy. Gallery-quality canvas, no museum crowds.
